UPHILL WHARF CAFE-BAR
A Social Hub For All
How It All Began
Establish in April 2017, Uphill Wharf Café-Bar took over from a previous Café, updating the menu and building to fit the needs of the area. Built into the side of the cliff, a feature point of the café to this day , it famously began life as a Chandlers. Much of the old Chandlery charm remains in the café, from replica boats, fishing nets & maritime memorabilia.
Owned by Delyth & Phil Lloyd-Evans alongside their son Thomas, who helped get the café on its feet before delving into the business world in London. Lottie the Golden Doodle & her new sister Zlotey the Cockapoo are always wondering around the café saying hello to kiddies and sniffing out the dog sausages! As I'm sure you can guess, we welcome dogs inside the cafe, but have areas available for those who don't want to share with pooches.
With plenty of indoor and outdoor seating available, all with disabled access, we cater for groups in all weathers. Our kiosk just across the path serves takeaway drinks and goodies, perfect for grab & go whilst enjoying the walks and surrounding areas natural beauty. Find out the walks & bicycle routes available HERE

A Unique Mix
Delyth encourages the café to be more than people eating and being sociable. The café is a place for children to learn basic skills in a first job and for members of the community to gather somewhere safe and pass the time of day.
We have been a starting place for young adults doing apprenticeships through our links with Weston College. and hosted pupils from Westhaven School in learning skills in a working environment.
Delyth has a hawk eye for details and strives for perfection at all times. She is a hands on owner and loves nothing better than setting up trays ready to be ran out to our customers making sure they have everything they need.
Delyth is welsh and proud - this is particularly noticeable when Wales are playing rugby!
Phil is famous for wearing shorts and boots all year round. Whatever the weather, that's his look.
Phil has the most incredibly creative mind and has beauties in every corner of the café.From cutlery chandeliers and comic artworks to decorated oars used for door handles. He has an eye for an up cycle and always has a new project keeping him busy.
When Phil isn't fixing, building or making something, he can be found chatting with friends all over Weston with the families lovely Golden Doodle – Lottie.
Phil does all of our maintenance from the cladding on the front of the cafe to the plumbing and electrical work. Everything you see around the café that has function or creative flair is down to him.
VIP Customer & Staff Member
Every day you will also see Mal who is Delyths Father, he is often on one of his favourite tables having a sing or a snooze. Mal is our most VIP customer and member of staff and at the grand old age of 94 and we think he is incredible.
Mal heads the table of our Community Table on Wednesday afternoons alongside Sue. The Community Table fold napkins and fill our salt & pepper shakers for a simple activity that allows them to feel involved and part of our establishment.
The backbone of the team, Vic brings everyone together as one happy family.
She can often be found mentoring our young members of staff, using her 18 years (you'd never believe it from her youthful looks!) of hospitality experience to help bring out the best.
One of Victoria's favourite things about working here is seeing the potential and ambition in someone. Helping to nurture those people is not only exciting but highly rewarding. Watching them bloom & skyrocket to their full potential.
When not working, Vic loves to pursue her hobbies of dancing & discovering exciting new foods!
Despite a first glace looking like a Cockapoo, Lottie is actually a Golden Doodle, a cross between Golden Retriever and a Poodle.
Lottie is 5 years old and has the power to bring a smile to everyones face when she comes in. When you see Lottie you know Phil or Del are in and close by.
Lottie is often wandering round keeping an eye on whats going on, shes very chilled out but protective of her land!
As I am writing this - Zlotey has literally just joined the gang in the final lockdown in March 2021. She is so full of beans you just wouldnt believe!
Zlotey is a full Cokerpoo with beautiful curls and the classic teddy bear face.
You will no doubt see her following Phil around the Cafe as Lottie has done for years.
